Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker has identified the woman found dead in the cemetery of East Mount Olive Baptist Church Wednesday night.
Medical examiners are investigating what caused the death of Airman Master Sgt. Iordanis "Jordan" Velissariou, 40, who was found unresponsive following physical training at Luke Air Force Base.
Luke AFB spokeswoman Lt. Col. Holly Slaughter said Velissariou was found unresponsive on Thursday and was taken to West Valley Hospital in Goodyear where he later died.
Velissariou was the Fleet Manager for Vehicle Maintenance in the 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Velissariou became a member of the Air Force on April 9, 1991 and was transferred to Luke Air Force Base on November 5, 2009. Velissariou is from Colorado Springs, CO.
"Members of Luke Air Force Base are saddened by the tragic loss of one of our own, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the Airman's family and friends," said Brig. Gen. Mike Rothstein, 56th Fighter Wing commander. "The 56th Fighter Wing will work with the Airman's family and others affected by this loss to provide the support and any assistance they need."
