HUNTINGTON, WV (WDAM) - Not one, but two school records fell, as the University of Southern Mississippi women's basketball team broke a six-game losing streak with a 68-61 win at Marshall University. Jamierra Faulkner scored 24 points in the win, but her seven assists put her in the record books as the all-time assist leader at Southern Miss.
Her teammate Tanecka Carey contributed 13 points, nine of which came from behind the arc. Her three treys gave her a total of 73 on the year, which is the most by any Golden Eagle in a single season. And she's still got two more games to pad some insurance to that record.
Southern Miss improved to 13-14 and 5-9 in conference with games at Tulane and at home against East Carolina on Senior Day still to play.
