JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Northeast Jones High School student escaped injury after crashing his Toyota Tacoma into a bridge on Lower Myrick Road on Thursday.

The Jones County Fire Council says the crash happened Thursday morning at around 7 a.m.

Authorities say the unidentified 16-year-old student was on his way to an FFA competition at JCJC at the time of the collision.

The fire council notes the student told officials he glanced down for a second - when he hit the east end of the bridge.
