Harlem Globetrotters, Arnau perform at Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - It was anything but a normal night of basketball at the Reed Green Coliseum. Thousands showed up on the University of Southern Mississippi campus for the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters on Wednesday night.

Fans were treated to spectacular slams, fun skits that involved the opposing team, and sometimes the fans or the officials, but they also got to see one of their own wearing a Globetrotter uniform. None other than now world-famous Ashlee Arnau, who's amazing half-court flip shot went viral on YouTube not even a week ago, got a chance to duplicate the feat in front of her home town.

She didn't have quite the touch this time around, but boy was she close. The William Carey University cheerleader rocketed one that clanged off the back iron on her fourth attempt, and was just wide on her last attempt.

Arnau actually hoped she'd receive a little help from the guys who don't have a problem getting to the tin. "I wished (the Globetrotters) would have rebound, slam dunked a little bit," she said smiling afterward, "Help me out just a little bit."

She didn't get much of a rest went she wasn't doing front flips. On the sideline, a number of young spectators lined up to get her autograph. Who says having fun can't be tiring?

"I wish I could get a break, but it's been so busy," Arnau said, "The phone's been ringing, I've been going here and there, it's been hectic." It will most likely stay that way for the next few days, at least until after she's appeared on "The Ellen Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Arnau says she doesn't mind all the attention too much-good thing, considering her twitter account has received about 900 new followers- but still says, "I need a break."
