JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A young child was found wandering the halls of a Jackson hotel early Sunday morning. Hours later when the mother returned, police charged her with neglect.

Guests of the Clarion Hotel on I-55 north say that they saw the child on the second floor knocking on doors looking for his mother.

Shameka Foxx and Lauren Jackson said they looked on while hotel security watched the little boy and later found two girls alone in a room.

"I did see the child coming from the elevator alone and that was about 5:15 this morning. Thank God that nothing happened to the child or anything like that and that shows that that mother was very unfit," said Shameka Foxx, a hotel guest.

The mother of the children explained to police that the children ranged in age from one to 10-years-old.

Foxx and Jackson said they waited for Jackson police and claim they heard the mother tell investigators that she and her partner went to a night club.

"It was actually two other children in the room as well, which the oldest was 10, and like the mother stated, she left them there because they were asleep and she thought she could step out and come back, and they'd still be asleep," said guest Lauren Jackson.

Jackson police confirm 37-year-old Roshume Wells was arrested at the hotel was charged with child neglect involving a 1-year-old child.
