The Mississippi Department of
Marine Resources was in the Hub City Saturday on a relief mission.
"Being from the Gulf Coast,
we're used to disasters because of hurricanes," said DMR Deputy and Interim
Director, Danny Guice. "Anytime you see a neighbor that's hurting, you want to
help."
After hearing the devastating
news of a tornado hitting Hattiesburg, employees of the MDMR decided to head to
Hattiesburg and have a cookout for relief workers and tornado victims.
"I like to really thank MDMR
for coming out and helping us," said Hattiesburg Fire Station #1 Battalion
Chief, Brady Ingram. "They give a lot to the community in coming out and doing
this, and we really do appreciate it."
First responders along with
residents whose homes were affected stopped by Hattiesburg Fire Station #1, and
grabbed a plate full of fried fish, oysters, chicken and shrimp.
