HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A group of eight students from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada rode along with Salvation Army volunteers passing out relief supplies in areas hardest hit by the tornado Tuesday.
The students are part of a larger group that are participating in an exchange program with USM. Each year Guelph sends a group to U-S-M as part of a student exchange program. While in the community they lend a hand on several charitable projects. Tuesday they helped the Red Cross by handing out cleaning supplies, hygiene kits, and food boxes.
Twenty-eight students from the university are participating in the exchange program. They will be here until Saturday taking part in various improvement projects in the city.
