Mayor DuPree says clean up is well underway in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree says debris clean-up is well underway in the Hub City. However, DuPree is urging residents to separate as much debris as possible.

During a special called council meeting Monday morning, Dupree updated the council on clean-up efforts since the EF-4 tornado touched down in Hattiesburg.

He said city and county employees are working diligently to clear roadways and clean up debris. He also said it would be helpful if residents separated all green waste, debris rubbish, and environmentally sensitive garbage before placing it on the side of the roads.

Mayor Dupree said the city has also waived construction fees that are normally required to build or remodel homes.
