Hattiesburg opens hazardous waste disposal site

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The City of Hattiesburg has opened a location for those affected by the tornado to dispose any hazardous materiel they may have on their properties.

The location is behind the Cameron Baseball Fields at Kamper Park. Items that are being accepted include paint, pesticides, tires, motor oil, solvents, fertilizers, and gasoline. Also being accepted are computers and appliances.

The drop off location is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and it will stay open as long as it is needed.

Ammunition and will explosives not be taken in.

    A search warrant executed Friday landed four people behind bars in Jones County on drug and firearm possession charges.     Jones County Sheriff's deputies arrested two people for drug possession and trespassing Friday. A deputy responded to a possible trespassing complaint at a residence in the 400 block of Trace Road in northern Jones County where deputies found Justin Sellers, 32, of Sandersville, and Amber Ray Smith, 26, of Laurel, partially clothed and passed out in a vehicle, according to the press release.
