HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Forrest General's Spirit of Women hosted its 9th Annual Day of Dance on Saturday.
Each year the Spirit of Women brings together the Pine Belt to celebrate the benefits of exercise and dancing, and the prevention of heart disease.
This year, the event was emceed by WDAM's very own, Randy and Miranda, and included more than 200 dancers, free health assessments, heart disease education, door prizes, and many vendor booths.
Day of Dance also included its 6th Annual Celebrity Dancing with the Stars contest, which included WDAM's Rex Thompson.
Along with entertainment, the event also included a can food drive.
"We wanted to try to do our part with the tornado that devastated our area this past week and so we decided to do a can food drive," said Forrest General's public relations Millie Swan. "We knew a lot of people would be coming in today for Day of Dance and so we've had a real successful day with buggies out front filled with can goods."
Can goods collected at Day of Dance will go to Christian Services to help tornado victims.
