ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Darton College basketball team is one win away from hosting the GCAA/Region XVII basketball tournament.
The Lady Cavaliers overcome a slow offensive start to beat crosstown rival Albany Tech 65-46 Wednesday night at Cavalier Arena.
Chanteniece Fann led Darton with 19 points.
Michelle Mitchell added 16 and Crystal Reed reaches double figures with 12 points.
Darton now needs one more win to clinch the #1 seed and the right to host the GCAA tournament.
"I was really proud of our team because we didn't start out playing well offensively. We defended well all night. We found ways to get our offense going in the second half. it was good win," said head coach Lea Henry.
"We really want to have this tournament. If we have it here, we are going to play hard. We do not want to lose here because this is our gym," said forward Chanteniece Fann.
Darton will close out the regular season with two games at home starting next Wednesday against East Georgia.
