PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -
Severe weather has caused flooding of the Boque Homa Creek, which has forced 14 families out of their homes.

The flooding is occurring along Whitfield Road in North Perry County near the Jones County line./

An access road along Whitfield leading to nine mobile homes  a mile back off the road has completely flooded out. A short distance away Hancock Road that leads to four more homes is also inaccessible because of the flooding.

Residents say their homes took on a several feet of water and are severely damaged. They also say several vehicles are completely underwater. One resident and his father had to be rescued from his home by a game warden in a boat.

The residents say they were forced to leave their homes on Monday. They say calls for assistance to the county, MEMA, and the Red Cross have gone unanswered. Several of them are staying with relatives or living in their vehicles.
