HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
Residents of West Lake Serene
subdivision started their clean-up efforts early on Monday.
Pearl River Valley
Electric, M & M Line Clearance, Mississippi Power, and volunteers worked
hard to bring the residents power and clean roads.
Not only did the tornado
ruin many houses, patios, and vehicles, but it also affected the animals.
Many trees covered the
roads at Lake Serene and damaged a lot of property. Residents spent the day
cleaning up and trying to cover the damages on their roofs, while others sustained
too much damage and prepared to leave their homes.
"It's pretty bad, seems
like we're going to have to replace the whole roof because it was picked up,"
said In-law of homeowner Richard Gillen. "We're going to rent a U-Haul tomorrow
and we have storage units, and we're going to box everything up and move out
because it will be a while before we can move back in."
Some residents say they
have no idea when their houses will be repaired or when they'll be able to move
back in their homes for good.
