A Hattiesburg man says his best friends, a family of three, are lucky to be alive Monday.
According to the family friend, Jimmy Johnson, there is nothing left of the Carr family home in the Bellwood Subdivision in Oak Grove.
Johnson said he arrived at the home Sunday evening, not long after the tornado demolished the home. He said the house completely fell apart, and the family was trapped under the debris.
Johnson said he help his friend, Mr. Carr, after he heard him screaming under piles of ruble. He said the daughter took shelter in the closet. Johnson said according to the daughter, the mother suffered a stroke, and couldn't walk.
Johnson added the only thing they could do was place a mattress over her, and they took shelter in the mother's bedroom.
Johnson says the family is doing fine, and were taken to local hospitals.
