TYLERTOWN,MS (WDAM) -

Todd Monken has added another talented gunslinger to his inaugural signing class. The first-year head football coach for the University of Southern Mississippi received news that Tylertown High School quarterback Tyre'oune Holmes reneged on his verbal commitment to Mississippi State, and is expected to sign with the Golden Eagles on Wednesday.

Holmes made his decision after making an official visit to Southern Miss over the weekend.

The dual threat quarterback is 32-6 as a three-year starter and has rushed for over 1,000 in each of those three seasons. The six-foot, 175 pound  Holmes also totaled 25 rushing touchdowns for his senior campaign.

He'll join Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year Nick Mullens as another QB who's decommitted from another program to join Monken in Hattiesburg.
