HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg police arrested two juveniles on Thursday night after a fight resulted in the injury of bystanders.

The suspects, both 17, are charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

An unknown number of people began fighting during the Hattiesburg Mardi Gras parade, according to police. The people in the fight fell onto the crowd and injured a girl in a wheelchair who fell into the street, and they injured an older woman who may have been knocked out at the scene after falling to the ground. Both were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. A juvenile male was also injured when a fleeing suspect trampled him.

Several other suspects dispersed into the crowd and were not captured. Police recovered a set of brass knuckles at the scene.

The next step in the case will be youth court depositions.
