Perry Central basketball hasn't seen much success the past few years, but this year is a different story. Both the boys' (13-8) and girls' (10-10) basketball teams look to be on track for winning seasons. Neither has seen a winning record in over four years.
The recent surge in Bulldog basketball has been led by head boys' basketball coach Felix Williams and head girls' coach Wes Brewer. Williams and Brewer are Perry Central graduates and have been friends since the fifth grade. The former Bulldogs took over the basketball program a couple of years ago, and they say the "family feel" is one thing that has driven their team's to success.
