Thousands of people lined the streets in Hattiesburg Thursday night for what's becoming the biggest city-wide party in town.
The 2nd annual Caerus Mardi Gras Parade featured about 70 floats. That's twice as many as last year. The Hattiesburg High School Marching Band also participated. About 20,000 people were expected to attend.
"I think this is wonderful," said Jason Allgood of Summit. "They should do more parades. It would be really good for the local economy," he said.
"I wanted to come out and have a good time at the Mardi Gras in Hattiesburg, Mississippi," said Dina Johnson of Hattiesburg.
"I was here for the first year and I'm just looking forward to doing it year after year," said Charles Kelly of Ellisville.
The parade route was also twice as long as last year's.
