HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Once again authorities say quiet neighborhoods turned out to be home to very elaborate marijuana growing operations. Four houses were raided across the coast, but Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara said they are connected.

"They are all intertwined together, all these cases. It's a group of individuals, there are still more involved, but this associates back to the arrests in the cases we had back in October of last year," Brisolara said.

This time Brisolara said it was not the smell that tipped off authorities, it was a traffic stop. The DEA called the sheriff's department after confiscating 44 pounds of marijuana from two cars in Alabama last week.

"One of them did live in the residence on Beatline Road in Long Beach," Brisolara said. "Once we got that information, we did research. And upon completing the investigation, we found out about the other locations."

Outside, the homes look like any other. But inside, authorities found thousands of dollars worth of plant growing equipment. Equipment was the only thing taken from 1012 Dorothy Drive in Ocean Springs. But at 5131 Beatline Road in Long Beach, investigators found at least 108 pot plants. They confiscated 168 plants at 5067 Starboard Drive in Pass Christian and 120 from 885 Palm Court in Biloxi.

We talked to some of the neighbors on Palm Court who said the man who lived there was always willing to help out. They said he was very handy and even helped board up some of the neighboring homes before Hurricane Isaac. The only thing neighbors say they did notice was several different cars going in and out of the home all the time.

"Know what your neighbors are doing," Brisolara said. "Just be a little more alert about what's going on around you. The equipment being moved in and out of these homes, if someone is moving something in late at night, something is not right. Notify us."

Five people are behind bars and authorities are still looking for at least three more suspects they believe are involved.

"I am confident that we will get to the bottom of it. We aren't there yet, we are a ways to go, according to the investigation and the direction it's going, but we will get there," Brisolara said.

Investigators are looking for Luis Cubillas-Fernandez, Carlos Rojas and Argelio Rojas. If you have any information about their whereabouts you are asked to call the Harrison County Sheriff's Office at (228) 265-7060.
