Hundreds of women from across South Mississippi got valuable tips on how to improve their health and well-being Saturday during an annual event just for them at Pearl River Community College.
The 7th annual Women's Health Symposium featured several different types of health screenings, massage therapy and an art walk.
More than 400 women attended this year's event.
"Who can get a manicure and get their bone density checked all in the same place for $20," said Jana Causey, chair of the Dept. of Health and Science at the Forrest County Center for Pearl River Community College. "So, it's a great deal and they're getting a lot of attention and it's just one of those great ways where we can serve the community," Causey said.
"I'm glad I came out," said Carrie Hales of Poplarville. "I've had a bone density test, I had my cholesterol (checked) and it was good, so I'm very happy about that," she said.
The event also included a panel discussion featuring several physicians.
