The principal at Hawkins Elementary School has been recognized by her peers for her outstanding leadership.
Donna Scott is the Hattiesburg Public Schools' Administrator of the Year. A group of administrators and staff made a surprise visit to Hawkins Elementary School Friday to tell her about the honor.
They also presented her with several donated gifts, including coffee mugs, office supplies and other items. Scott is in her third year as principal at Hawkins.
"What I enjoy most is working with the students and my teachers," said Scott. "My teachers do an outstanding job, so I have to give them as much credit for this as I do myself," she said.
"She reflects what we think that a leader should reflect as an administrator in a school, in order to lead a school to success," said James Bacchus, Hattiesburg school superintendent.
