Prentiss bank robber foiled by closed lane

JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Jefferson Davis County officials are looking for a bank robbery suspect captured on surveillance footage as he attempted to rob a Prentiss Bank on Tuesday while armed.

Police received up alarm call at the Hancock Bank on Columbia Avenue in Prentiss at approximately 3:11 p.m. responded with assistance from the Jefferson Davis Sheriff's Department.

They later learned a lone robber had entered the bank wearing a blue ski mask, a jacket, and gloves while brandishing a small caliber handgun. The teller told him the lane was closed and he replied, "Why are you messing with me?" officials said. The bank teller opened the drawer and showed him she had no money. He then left the scene traveling south in a small silver or light blue four-door car with the license plate removed.
