Richard Aaron Hayes, 27, of Ridgeland, was arrested Thursday morning after he turned himself into authorities for allegedly spying on women in the bathroom at the bank where he was employed.

Hayes was charged with one count of voyeurism after authorities learned that he had been watching women in the ladies restroom at the PNC Bank on Office Way. A bank employee notified law enforcement of the suspicious activity after they found a ladder in the men's restroom at the bank.

The employee told authorities that she was conducting a security walk through at the bank when she noticed a ladder leaning against a wall in the men's restroom, which adjoins the ladies' restroom. After finding the ladder, the employee began to take note of an odd pattern of behavior by Hayes, with him always going to the men's restroom each time a female went to the ladies' restroom.

During the investigation, authorities found a hole in the ceiling tile above a toilet in the ladies' bathroom, which allowed Hayes to look into the bathroom from the ladder in the men's room. Authorities believe Hayes, who was employed as the teller supervisor, was engaging in this behavior over the course of the last several moths, spying on female employees and bank customers in the restroom.

No additional victims have been identified at this time but the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Cpl. J. Moran at 843.255.3422 or Crimestoppers at 1.888.CRIME.SC.
