It will be a rebuilding year for the NCAA Division II national champion Valdosta State softball team.
Gulf South Conference coaches believe head coach Thomas Macera will have no problem replacing the eight starters he lost from last year's title squad.
Gulf South coaches have put the preseason bullseye on Valdosta State to win a fifth straight league title this year.
Rival Alabama-Huntsville came in second in the voting by conference coaches.
Shortstop Courtney Albritton from Sycamore and outfielder Morgan Johnson made the preseason all-conference team along with catcher Ashley Steinhilber and Brianna Hancock.
The VSU softball team did lose eight all star players but they have added transfers Shelby Altman and Hannah Strickland and have signed freshman pitcher Hanna Lythman.
