HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

As abortion opponents marked the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade with prayers and protests at the capitol. On the local level not everyone sees the issue as black and white. In 2011, Mississippi voters rejected a ballot initiative aimed at banning abortion by giving fertilized eggs "personhood."

Despite multiple attempts to close Mississippi's only abortion clinic in Jackson, opinions still vary on whether or not abortion should be illegal.

"I'm kind of halfway. I believe it depends on the circumstance," said Hattiesburg native, Marty Davis.

"I'm conflicted. I used to be totally pro-choice, but know I just don't know. I certainly don't think abortion should be illegal, " said Patti Stanfrod.
