Sixty-five percent of Mississippi's land is forests,
and 70% of that land is owned by private, non-industrial landowners.
Some of those landowners and legislators met
Monday at Movie Star Restaurant in Oak Grove to discuss the state of forestry
in the Pine Belt, and how our forests provide great recreational opportunities
for residents and those looking to visit Mississippi.
Mississippi was the first state in the nation
to establish a tax credit to help landowners with expenses associated
with the stewardship of forest land.
