LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Hattiesburg Police and the Lamar County Sheriff's Department are looking for the person or persons responsible for three overnight break-ins at three Hattiesburg area churches.

Two of the churches, Willow Point on Hwy. 589 and Magnolia Baptist on King Road are located in the county. The third, Heritage United Methodist on Hwy. 98 West is just inside the Hattiesburg city limits.

Entry to all three churches was gained by breaking out a window. Authorities say they think the suspect or suspects may have thought there would be large quantities of money inside the churches with the banks being closed Monday.

There was also some minor damage and disarray inside of the churches to include kicked in doors and strewn paper in some of the rooms.

Nothing of significance was taken in the break-ins.
