Hub City concert band shares the love of music with dozens of residents

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The City of Hattiesburg Concert Band gathered several musicians from across the south to the Saenger Theater to share the love of music on Sunday.

Folks were treated to a free concert that was conducted by Dr. Shermon Hong, who played professionally for the Joffrey Ballet.

The bands next concert at the Saenger Theater will be April 21, which will be their fourth and last concert for the season.

    The American Legion's first female national commander visited Hattiesburg Tuesday night.  Denise Rohan met veterans and attended a dinner at the American Legion Post 24. She became the organization's first female commander back in August.     One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after a crash involving five vehicles in Hattiesburg Tuesday night.  The wreck happened around 6:30 p.m., in the southbound lane of Highway 49, just north of the Hardy Street intersection.  Hattiesburg Police officials said one of the vehicles involved was an 18-wheeler.  Copyright 2018 WDAM.     Changes to the pay scale for the Hattiesburg Fire Department are on hold, for now. Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker asked City Council to table the item on the agenda at Tuesday's meeting.  Barker said he wanted to give council members more of an opportunity to go over the proposal, since it was the first time presented to them.
