PRCC marching band takes off to presidential inauguration

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The Pearl River Community College band began their 18 hour journey Saturday.

Four buses were loaded with instruments, uniforms and more than 100 band members.

The Spirit of the River marching band is heading to Washington D.C. to perform in the presidential inauguration on Monday.

The PRCC students will represent the state of Mississippi in the 1.5 mile parade as they play "God Bless America".

"Looking forward to a long bus ride, and some sightseeing, and maybe some snow," said PRCC band director Kyle Hill.

The band will take a quick tour of the nation's capital on Sunday, and return back on Tuesday.

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
