HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
More than 100,000 claims have been paid by BP for
its oil spill in 2010 and only 12% of those claims have been from Mississippi.
The Mississippi Oil Spill Claims, PLLC, want to help
the Pine Belt businesses obtain more information on how they may file a claim
and apply for funds.
"We've got businesses throughout the state of
Mississippi, north of Hattiesburg, even Jackson area," said member of
Mississippi Oil Spill Claims, PLLC, Dustin Thomas. "Many businesses have met
the financial test and we think there are many more that would do so."
By hosting an informational at the Lake Terrace
Convention Center, the Mississippi Oil Spill Claims, PLLC, hope to make more Mississippians
aware of the claim they can file if their business sustained an economic loss
in 2010 due to the oil.
"I would encourage any business, church, or
non-profit that lost revenue in 2010, and that includes a lot, to come, listen,
and decide whether this is something they would like to participate in," said
member of Mississippi Oil Spill Claims, PLLC, Brian Montague.
If you are interested in obtaining additional
information on how your business or organization can file a claim and apply for
funds, the Mississippi Oil Spill Claims will host an informational at The Lake
Terrace Convention Center on January 24 at 6 p.m.
To attend you must register by either calling (601) 602-4731
or email msoilspillclaims@gmail.com.
