WINNSBORO, TX (KLTV) -

By Phillip Stauts

An East Texas woman found a wounded dog along an East Texas roadside Thursday morning. The dog had been there, she thinks, possibly for days.

The Good Samaritan took the black lab to get some help. She took the black lab to city hall and then to the Winnsboro Veterinary Medical Center where "Shooter" had to have his left front leg amputated.

Shooter is responding well and is expected to go to the animal shelter on Monday to start his rehab. The operation was paid for by monies from a special fund for the shelter that the City of Winnsboro raises with it annual garage sale.

The shelter is looking for a good home for this 2- to 3-year old full-grown lab.

If you are interested in adopting Shooter, you can contact the Winnsboro Animal Shelter at 903 342- 3400 for details.
