MLK celebration continues with commemoration in Collins

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Macedonia Baptist Church hosted a commemoration for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday.

Presented by the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade Committee of the Pine Belt, the event included guest speaker, Jefferson Davis School District Superintendent Ike Hayes, as well as Master and Mistress of Ceremonies Jefferson Davis County Sheriff Ron Strickland and his wife.

"It's a continuation of education, teaching people the life, history of Dr. King and the things that he accomplished, the things that he would want us to continue on after his legacy," said President of the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade Committee Thaddeus Edmonson.

The MLK celebration will continue with Dr. King education week from January 14 – 18. For more information on the events, click HERE.
