POPLARVILLE (WDAM) - A jury finds a man guilty of assaulting a correctional officer while in jail.
The district attorney's office says Matthew Thomas Rickman, 35, severely beat the officer at the county jail. The officer's injuries resulted in permanent eye damage and several broken bones.
The D.A.'s office adds Rickman will be sentenced January 25. Rickman could face life in prison without parole.
