HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - If someone wearing a black and gold jersey put up a shot, odds are it was going in. The University of Southern Mississippi shot a school record 69.6 percent from the field in an easy 75-52 win at Rice University.
The Golden Eagles (12-4, 1-0) opened up the game leading 18-5, and never had many problems dealing Rice only its second loss to Southern Miss on its home floor.
Daveon Boardingham followed up his break-out game against Dillard with another stout showing, connecting on six of nine attempt and leading the Golden Eagles with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Michael Craig scored 15 points on seven of nine attempts, while Jerrold Brooks and Dwayne Davis each scored 11.
