MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

As a part of an effort to increase school security, Marion County deputies are doing random walk-throughs of county schools from one to four times a day.

The Marion County School Board, in partnership with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, has taken steps to update and strengthen their school crisis management plan.

They want parents to know the increased presence doesn't mean their is something bad going on, but a more concerted effort to keep their children safe.
