PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Perry County Sheriff's Department unveiled their new state of the art emergency response system for their 911 dispatch center Tuesday.

Features of the new system include computer aided dispatch and records and jail management.

The system allows dispatchers and deputies real time access to critical information they need in life critical moments when responding to a 911 call. Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith says the system simplifies, streamlines, and optimizes operations and most importantly it will make it safer for deputies when responding to a call.

"The system will be able to provide officers with much needed information before they get on scene," said Smith. "Things like have they ever been there before, whether anyone at the residence has an arrest record and for what for. It's going to make it a lot easier and safer for the officers."

Sheriff Smith said he wanted to thank the Perry County Supervisors for the new system, for without their cooperation it would not have been possible.
