HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Friday morning drug raid in Perry County put 12 people behind bars.

The raid was the result of an investigation that had been going on for months.

In the raid 20 grams of crack cocaine, approximately $1400, and one vehicle was seized. All the suspects were from Perry County, with most of them coming from the Richton and Beaumont areas.

Charges ranged from possession of a controlled substance to sale of a controlled substance. The police departments from Richton, New Augusta, and Beaumont assisted Perry County in the raid.

"We're going to stop drugs in Perry County," said Jimmy Dale Smith, Sheriff Perry County. "It's something that is causing a problem here and we're going to do our best to put an end to it."

One of the suspects are being held without bond. The rest had their bond set at $35,000.
