ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Some people are dealing with a holiday hangover in early January.
Deerfield-Windsor basketball coach Gordy Gruhl says his Knights are dealing with a football hangover after winning the state championship.
The Knights enter January having already lost three games this season.
Two of those losses were to the top two private school teams in Alabama last week in the Border Wars Classic.
Regardless of the opposition, coach Gruhl says the Knights shooting needs to improve in a hurry.
So much so that Gruhl says he will look to the B team to find someone who can knock down a jump shot.
The coach though believes the shoots will fall once his veteran team gets into basketball shape.
"I feel like our kids are going to come around and shoot the ball better. I think that is the biggest thing. We have got a few things defensively. This team is a veteran team. I think they know where they need to get to. Hopefully, we are going to get there", said head coach Gordy Gruhl.
Deerfield-Windsor plays non region games at Westfield (Jan. 4th) and at home against Stratford (Jan. 8th) before opening region play January 11th at Southland.
