Jan. 6: Gospel festival at 3:00pm at Hosanna Missionary Baptist Church (5439 Hwy. 11, Ellisville)

Jan. 11: Opening day celebration at 9:00am at Laurel High School

Jan. 12: Salute the Greatness Annual Banquet; starts at 6:00pm with a reception at Sanderson Farms' corporate office (127 Flynt Road, Laurel)

Jan. 13: Commemoration program at 3:00pm at Macedonia Baptist Church (105 Fir Avenue, Collins)

Jan. 14-18: Dr. King Education Week throughout downtown Laurel and Sawmill Square Mall

Jan. 19: Parade throughout downtown Laurel (lineup at 10:00am; parade at 11:00am); a battle of the bands starts at 1:00pm at Laurel High School's stadium

Jan. 21: Day of community service throughout Laurel

    The City of Hattiesburg warned its residents about an email scam making its rounds on Tuesday.  "Today, a Hattiesburg resident made city officials aware of an email scam regarding parking tickets," read the email from the city.  All tickets issued by Hattiesburg's Parking Division are paper and will not be delivered electronically, according to city clerk Kermas Eaton.
