HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Police are now calling Sunday night's shooting death of Wesley Owens part of a home invasion.

The family of 19-year-old Wesley Owen's said he was shoot in the back during an apparent robbery.

They claim the robbery was instigated by Antonica Magee, 20, of Columbia.

Owens family claims that after Magee made sure he was in the apartment, Eddreon Brister, 18, of Tylertown, Trey Oliver, 20, and Anthony Mitchell, 20, of Columbia entered and ambushed and shot Owens in the back.

Hattiesburg police on Monday arrested four people in connection with the alleged murder.

Police charged Brister and Magee with murder. They also charged Jimmy Lee Oliver, 28, and Gary Daughtry, 20, both of Columbia, with hindering apprehension. All are now in the Forrest County Jail. On Tuesday, police arrested Trey Oliver.

The arrests come as part of an investigation into the death of a Taylorsville man who was shot in Hattiesburg late Sunday.

Police responded to reports of gunshots around 7 p.m. at Breckenridge Apartments off Classic Drive where they found Owens shot.

First responders transported Owens to Forrest General Hospital where he was pronounced dead within an hour of the gunshots.

The Hattiesburg Police Department asks residents to call 601-582-7867 with any information they may have about the murder.
