HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A New Year is right around the corner, and that means New Year's resolutions.

"My New Year's resolution is to get back into shape," said gym member Channing Runnels. "I've been out of the gym for a while, so I'm going to try to start working out and eating healthy again."

While there are many New Year's resolutions, there's one that is very common every year.

"The number one resolution of all time is to get in shape," said One 80 Fitness General Manager Hallie Sootin. "New Year is the time when everybody is ready to make a change, they're ready to look better, they're ready to feel better."

Although there are a few days left until 2013, many are getting a head start and getting their gym memberships.

"The day after Christmas we had people outside already ready to come in," said Sootin. "It's just getting close to that time where people know they can get a good start."

While many are looking forward to a fresh start, for others staying healthy and going to the gym is more of a new day resolution rather than a New Year's resolution.

"Don't get up and get ready, just go do it," said gym member DJ. "Like you get up and go to the buffet cause your stomach is hungry, get up and go workout cause your body is hungry to workout. "

For those ready to lose weight and get fit beginning the New Year, One 80 Fitness recommends you check with your doctor to make sure you are ready for any type of fitness or workout routine.
