HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The countdown to Christmas is on. Shoppers are out trying to get those last minute gifts to put under the tree, and with the big crowds flocking to the shopping malls it can get crazy.

The people definitely showed up at Parkway Place Mall in Huntsville on Friday.  Shoppers filled the stores to get those last minute gifts, and the traffic inside and outside was massive.

"It looks busy and it's packed the way it is on Black Friday, but as far as hustle and bustle and personalities, people seem to be in really good spirits," said Group Marketing Director Jana Kunar. "At this time of the year, it always gets really busy, and with this weekend having an extra weekend before Christmas it's even busier."

A busy time that can make the joy of giving not so joyful for shoppers like Sonya Ott.

"There was sickness in our family, so that slowed me down," she said.  "I normally don't like to wait this long because it's kind of stressful. I've been struggling, but I've got it done now."

Not everyone is in the Christmas spirit, but shoppers like Keith Norrie say people should just chill out.

"They really need to remember some of the things that are going on in the world at the moment and just put it into perspective," he said.

As the countdown to Christmas nears and buyers dash through the stores for deals, Ott has this holiday advice.

"Just remember the reason for the season," she said.  "The stress is not worth it. Just enjoy the time while you have it because another year is already over."
