Lamar County Board of Supervisors backs local animal shelter

The Lamar County Board of Supervisors held a board meeting Thursday morning where they made the decision to accept Hub City Humane Society's contract versus Southern Pine Animal Shelter.

After providing financial support to Southern Pines Animal Shelter for more than a decade, the Board of Supervisors decided to stop in October and are now going to begin giving their financial support to Hub City Humane Society.

According to Lamar County District Four Supervisor Phillip Carlisle, Hub City Humane Society's contract costs less money and doesn't require residents to pay additional fees.
