Hattiesburg students graduate from G.R.E.A.T. program
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
More than one hundred young students took the pledge Wednesday to not do drugs and stay in school.
The entire Hawkins Elementary School's fifth grade graduated from the G.R.E.A.T. program. The program, which stands for "gain resistance education and training, is designed to help young students steer away from the peer pressures of drinking.
Hattiesburg Police Public Information Officer, Jon Traxler, says it's good for students to graduate from G.R.E.A.T. early on.
"We want them to know that they don't have to join gangs or do drugs. Say no to peer pressure," said Traxler.
