HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Dozens of Hub City residents gathered at the Hattiesburg Visitors Center to celebrate the holiday season with neighbors and guests from out of town.

They took part in the 9th annual Christmas Open House hosted by Visit Hattiesburg.

The event featured free holiday food, Christmas Carolers and an exhibit from the Pine Belt Quilters.

Miss Hospitality 2012 Chandler Llana also greeted visitors during the event.

"I love Hattiesburg," said Llana. "I feel like it's my second home and my mother, she knows her way around already and so we zip here and zip there and we don't have to ask for directions and it's pretty great," she said.

"While yes, we do enjoy hosting our out-of-town visitors on a daily basis, we also like for our local residents to come out and check out the Visitors Center and see what we have to offer," said Kristie Fairley, deputy director of Visit Hattiesburg.

Another open house is hosted in May during National Tourism Week.
