MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – The flu is hitting pretty hard this season, and we have a map to show just how bad things are right now.

Take a live look at this USA Today map shown to the right. You can see all of the states that are reporting flu cases.

Here in the Mid-South, you can see Mississippi is reporting high levels. Tennessee is seeing moderate activity, and Arkansas is reporting low levels of flu activity.

Here in Memphis, Doctors at Lebonheur Children's hospital warn that this is one of the more severe flu seasons in at least a decade - and that the virus is hitting Memphis especially hard. They are seeing large numbers of children being admitted.

But you do not have to leave yourself open to chance. There is still time for you to get your flu shot to help protect you against the virus.

If you want to track the flu activity using the map pictured, just click here to see the flu tracker.
