Taylorsville man killed in one-vehicle rollover accident in Jones County

A Taylorsville man was killed Tuesday morning, December 11, in a one-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 28 near Lebanon Church in Jones County.

At 8:22 a.m. medical first responders and rescue units from Calhoun and Soso Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the accident where a Chevrolet Trailblazer had landed on its roof after leaving the highway and striking a culvert.  The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was unresponsive when first responders arrived on scene.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Jones County Deputy Coroner Burl Hall and identified as Jerry Lee Davis, age 66, of Taylorsville.

The cause of the accident is unknown and remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Also responding to the accident were Jones County Sheriff's Department, Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna, Investigator Wayne Black of the Jones County District Attorney's Office and Jones County Fire Council Chaplain Brother Drew Blanton.
