JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Dozens of 3rd grade students at North Jones Elementary School received an early and valuable Christmas gift Tuesday afternoon from members of the Laurel Rotary Club.

About 150 children got dictionaries which included historical facts about American history and the nation's presidents.

This is the 4th year the Rotary Club has made the donation to the school.

"Rotary really has a statewide effort now to focus on education and literacy and we've just seen a lot of impact with providing the dictionaries to the 3rd grade students," said Will Easterling, past president of the Laurel Rotary Club.

"We just appreciate the Rotary Club so much for taking this time to invest in the future of our students," said Robert Hill, supervising principal for North Jones Elementary School.

The dictionaries also contain some social studies and science information as well.
