HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Thousands of people took a walk through unseasonably warm East Hattiesburg Saturday night to participate in a couple of annual holiday activites. Visitors enjoyed carriage rides and yuletide carolers during the 37th annual Victorian Candlelit Christmas.

It featured more than 15,000 luminaries lining the streets.

Visitors will be welcomed for a second night of the event Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, art lovers strolled through the downtown business district Saturday evening during an annual holiday art walk.

Visitors to that event were invited to view the works of emerging artists at an exhibition at the Hattiesburg Cultural Center.

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported there are now 12 cases of West Nile Virus in our state Thursday morning. Although, every case is serious, that number pales in comparison, to the 247 cases in 2012. Still, you have to put a human face onto these figures to really know what this virus is capable of doing.
