Escaped jail trusty caught at Hub hotel

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A state inmate who escaped while doing trustee work in Hattiesburg late last month is back in custody tonight, thanks to a tip to Crimestoppers.

Crimestoppers officials say Marcus Andrew Walker was caught at the Scottish Inn in Hattiesburg about 2:30 p.m. Saturday by Mississippi Department of Corrections officials.

He was taken back to the Forrest County Regional Jail.

Walker had last been seen on Nov. 26 washing sheriff's department cars at the Forrest County Service Center near downtown Hattiesburg.

He was serving five years on robbery charges.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
